POP!250 - Celebrating 250 years of pop culture

A cross-functional, multi-dimensional activation leveraging a cultural moment at a level only Funko could achieve. I created the branding for the campaign, working with in-house designers and external vendors to pull off a cultural moment celebrating a long history of pop culture.

POP!250 Final Five

A TIMELINE OF INFLUENCE

With 26 cultural icons spanning 250 years, the challenge was to create a visual storytelling system that celebrated each figure individually while connecting them to a larger narrative.

I helped develop the creative direction and structure for a series of character reveals, using a continuous timeline to connect each era visually. Every reveal followed a consistent storytelling approach, introducing the icon, highlighting defining cultural moments, sharing unexpected pop culture facts and incorporating Funko's signature humor.

I led designers in bringing the system to life while remaining hands-on in the creative execution. The result was a cohesive series of reveals that built anticipation, encouraged discovery, and gave the campaign a recognizable visual identity across generations.

Helping share a cultural moment

POP!250 culminated in a one-of-a-kind livestream auction experience in partnership with Goldin on eBay Live, giving fans the opportunity to own a piece of pop culture history.

The event featured 21 exclusive, one-of-one Funko POP! collectibles celebrating influential figures across generations. Through live auctions, interactive trivia and giveaways, the experience brought collectors directly into the campaign's celebration of cultural history.

The livestream generated $72K in auction sales and 828 bids, turning the campaign's premium visual storytelling into a real-world collecting experience.

From campaign promotion to the final auction, the creative helped establish a sense of rarity, anticipation, and cultural significance around the collection.

VISUAL DIRECTION & BRANDING

For POP!250, I established the campaign's visual direction, tone and identity, bringing a premium, museum-inspired aesthetic to 250 years of pop culture history.

Drawing inspiration from modern art museums, historical exhibitions and high-end auction houses, I developed a visual language built around dramatic lighting, dark architectural environments, black marble, brushed metals and gold accents. The goal was to make each collectible feel like a rare cultural artifact while keeping the campaign unmistakably Funko.

Beyond the overall look and feel, I helped develop a consistent visual storytelling system for the character reveals, combining historical context, iconic moments and Funko's signature humor. Each reveal became another chapter in a larger timeline, building anticipation as the collection grew.

I led designers in executing this vision while remaining hands-on in the creative process, helping maintain consistency across social content, campaign visuals, and digital marketing.

From One-of-One to One for Everyone.

While POP!250 celebrated 250 years of pop culture through 21 exclusive, one-of-one collectibles destined for the Goldin auction and fan giveaways, the final five figures brought the experience to a much wider audience.

Featuring Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, Britney Spears, the Duffer Brothers, and MrBeast, the Modern Era collection gave fans the opportunity to own a piece of the celebration through limited-time retail pre-orders.

The creative challenge was connecting two very different collecting experiences under one visual identity: the prestige and rarity of the historical one-of-ones and the excitement of owning a modern pop culture icon.

I helped direct and execute the creative across the Modern Era campaign, carrying the premium, museum-inspired aesthetic into retail-focused visuals while shifting the messaging toward accessibility, fandom, and the opportunity to bring these icons home.
